Back to the 80's in New Zealand

Two of New Zealand's biggest amateur theatre companies have completed successful productions of Back to the 80's this month.

Rotorua Musical Society and Napier Operatic have followed on from the success of Abbey Musical Theatre last year. It is a great end of year feel good show.

The Arcadians in Wollongong New South Wales put away their fluorescent socks and shoulder pads in November.

Aunty Jack in Orange

Talking about the arts in Wollongong- I jumped on the back of the bike with Grahame "Aunty Jack" Bond and revved  along the Great Western Highway to Orange in December.

Grahame and I and Spot the Dog had a howling good time.

Peter Pan the Croc Rock Musical

Congratulations to Sydney's Regals Musical Society which staged a wildly successful production of Peter Pan the Croc Rock Musical in October.

The members enjoyed having children on stage. ( Especially my two children – Lost Boys - Rebecca 10 and Joshua 8.) Audiences enjoyed some terrific family entertainment. And they did well at the Box Office.  The Regals have also completed a live cast recording of their performance.

I encourage all community theatres to consider staging theatre for children now and then. Grown ups get lots of laughs as well.
